Knifemaker Explains The Difference Between Chef's Knives | Epicurious

seriously kitchen knife forums are the worst. I once said something to the effect that I thought a german chef’s knife with a full bolster was actually not too bad (I didn’t even say it was great; clearly there are much better knives) and I felt like I put my nose in an electrical outlet

Here is another new one! I hand forged this chef's knife from a LaBelle farriers rasp, then ground and polished it. It has a Juma, Green Mamba hilt and a satin finished brass bolster. #knifemaking #chefsknife #art #artist #juma #brass #handforged

Well, here is the current W.I.P. This chef's knife was hand forged from a LaBelle farriers rasp and has a solid brass bolster and Juma hilting block. I still need to finish the fine shaping on the hilt and bolster, then do final polish on everything, acetone and etch our mark into the blade, then put an edge on it.

This antler, brass and Damascus steel knife is an amalgamation of 14th century French blade design and 15th century German hilting esthetic.

#Santoku #handmade #ChefsKnife #DessertIronwood #Luxury #Kitchen #Chef #Cooking This was the first Santoku I ever made and it was a big one! Two and a half inches wide and fourteen long.
#ChefsKnife #UtilityKnife #HandMade #Kitchen #Cooking #Luxury #Art #Artist #Cutlery I made this utility knife from 1095, high carbon steel, which was polished to a mirror shine, then acid washed. I made the handle from mango wood burl and added G10 spacers for some visual flair. I love using 1095 for my mono steel kitchen knives because it is so acid reactive.
