Buffalo's Ché Noir has shared “Black Girl”, featuring Rapsody, the first single from her upcoming album “The Lotus Child” (out October 25th). The track stands out for its timeless quality, weaving together various hip-hop influences - from Wu-Tang Clan's martial arts-inspired sounds to Guru's jazz elements and hints of G-Funk - while maintaining a distinctly contemporary feel.Started in 2021, the project showcases Noir's growth as both producer and MC. “My fans know I produce, but they don't know how important it is for me to be a multi-faceted artist,” she explains. The collaboration with Rapsody went through multiple versions before reaching its final form, getting cleared just a week before release.The album's title carries deep significance, drawing parallels with the lotus flower's purity, rebirth, and strength symbolism. “I look at it as a metaphor for the beauty of pulling yourself out and rising from the mud,” Noir shares. “I am a child and product of that. Even when its roots are in the dirtiest waters, the Lotus produces the most beautiful flower.”The project aims to realise her skills fully as a storyteller, lyricist, and producer, further cementing her position as one of hip-hop's most promising multi-hyphenate artists emerging from Buffalo's scene.
