Happy #WorldConcertinaday!
#CharlesWheatstone’s 221’st birthday 🪗🎂
Are those free-reeds or beating reeds in the party 🥳 horn?
Wikipedia is no help, says it’s just a horn. This IS a stub:

On #WorldConcertinaDay we remember #CharlesWheatstone who invented the English #concertina, 3-D glasses, the telegraph, measured the speed of light, and every electrical engineer uses his Wheatstone bridge circuit
So if you do practically anything electronic 📱today while wearing 3-D glasses 😵💫 and playing your concertina 🪗 at the speed of light 💡 over the telegraph ⚡️ thank Charles Wheatstone

I love those modern echoes of old tech. Somebody here mentioned #CharlesWheatstone, so I commented. Then yesterday I saw another mention of him
He was such a polymath!
So much technology was being developed in the 1830s it feels like he and those like him had their fingerprints on all of it
The #makers of their day

Another #CharlesWheatstone shoutout in this vid about a diy project that sounds foolish—Building a haptic input knob from scratch! 🎛
He mentions the famous Wheatstone Bridge at nine minutes in
In addition to inventing the telegraph, the concertina 🪗, 3-D glasses 😵💫, and measuring the speed of light, Wheatstone also got his name on this fundamentally useful early electronic principle
🪗 Big #CharlesWheatstone nerds over here. 😉
Besides the telegraph (and 3-D glasses) Charles Wheatstone also filed a key patent that led to his English #Concertina in 1829, the same year Cyrill Demian patented the first #Accordion in Vienna🤓#TwinIdeas #Breakthroughs
