Update: As of today, the page on #Black #MedalOfHonor recipient #CharlesRogers has been restored with the original URL. The page had been "removed during auto removal process" according to a defense official.
While doing research for the @wikipedia article on #CharlesRogers, I learned that in 2023, #JimJustice, then-Governor of #WestVirginia, broke ground on a nursing facility named in Rogers' honor. Justice is now a senator, and recently introduced a bill to create a monument to #MedalOfHonor recipients. I wonder if he knows or cares about the government's erasure of Rogers' web page.
#CharlesRogers became the highest-ranking #Black soldier in the U.S. to receive the #MedalOfHonor. The Dept of Defense just took down his web page and added "dei" to the URL.
