It was hot this morning at our Atheists Helping the Homeless giveaway of toiletries and clothes.

We are able to talk to most of our clients and they explain how much what we do helps. We all left with a feeling that we did something useful for people who needed it.

We could have helped more people, but current policies force them to scatter and hide. We are looking for ways to cover a larger area.

More detail in alt text.

Recently I spoke to a nice woman who explained that chemical hand warmer packets kept her alive a few very cold nights ago. She stuffed them into her clothes.

I met her during our #AtheistsHelpingTheHomeless giveaway in February. We normally give out two per customer, but as she talked to someone else, I loaded her bag with a bunch of the packets.

Leaving for our March giveaway in a few minutes. Will I see her again?

It's my day off and I need to be finishing a crochet teddy for a friend's little boy. Instead I'm catching up on the work I didn't have time for yesterday, and won't have time for when I'm back at work on Friday.

Hmph.

I'm not working today, but I've already had two phone calls from colleagues/volunteers. πŸ€¦πŸ»β€β™€οΈ #CharityWorker #AlwaysOnCall

I'm enjoying my last day off work today, before heading back into the pre-Christmas insanity. It's going to be a long, hard few weeks.

So I'm crocheting and watching trashy TV, accompanied by a bucket of tea and a rainbow blanket.
