I visited Chandragiri Hill while I was in Nepal, last year. At the summit of the hill stands a Hindu temple known as Bhaleshwor Mahadev (भालेश्वर महादेव), a sacred place dedicated to Lord Shiva. Shiva, one of the deities in the Hindu trinity known as the Trimurti, is recognized as The Destroyer. When I walked up to the temple, a priest asked if I wanted a blessing. He crushed a flower on the top of my head, said a prayer, and put a red dot on my forehead.

This is the Prithivi Narayan Shaha Statue at Chandragiri. I took it last year while I was in Kathmandu. It sounds like he is the man credited with the unification of Nepal.
