I spent yesterday at my kid’s doubleheader in North Baltimore, Ohio. The history of North Baltimore is similar to Chagrin Falls in a number of ways; it was founded in the 1870s, occupies 2.5 square miles, has a population of 3,369, and is centered on a North Main Street that looks a lot like ours. And check out these crosswalks!
Despite a bumpy start the temporary 3-way stop at East Orange, North, and Mill Streets has gone pretty well, and the village is considering making it permanent. I’m on board, but before we do I think we should agree on a plan to make the intersection safer and work better for everyone.
Just posted my updates from Monday’s council meeting, where the police department recognized their Officer of the Year, we all learned a little bit about odor control at the wastewater treatment plant, and the Carriage Stone sidewalk plan passed another big milestone.

Village Council met Monday evening, where the police department recognized their Officer of the Year, we all learned a little bit about odor control at the wastewater treatment plant, and the Carriage Stone sidewalk plan passed another big milestone.
The village may have an approved budget before the fiscal year starts. Sidewalks might get some much-needed attention. Grove Hill Park still not complete after four-and-a-quarter years. Details and more in my notes from last night’s village council meeting.

I think traffic engineers are often so focused on cars that common sense goes out the window and anyone outside a vehicle is endangered. Here they’ve completely obscured the crosswalk entrance by placing this giant highway-sized sign on southbound Main Street. Be careful out there!
A reminder that the North Main Street Bridge will be closed to traffic from 6:30 am to the end of the workday (4:00 pm, later if needed) from tomorrow through Thursday, May 1. Pedestrian traffic across the bridge on the east sidewalk will remain open, closing for briefly when necessary for safety reasons.
