from PSICC National Forest:
Current Situation: Due to wet and slick conditions, firefighters did not hike into the upper part of the fire area yesterday for safety reasons. They patrolled along the trail while a Type 1 helicopter worked on hot spots inside the fire’s perimeter. As expected, the south edge held at a rocky scree field. Today, they will reengage and continue mopping up, cold trailing, and strengthening the line from the heel in the south up and around to the northeast corner, where they have tied into the avalanche chute.
Weather: Mostly cloudy with temperatures in the 60s, and relative humidity of 39-44 percent. Rain is likely in the afternoon and evening, and may be accompanied by gusty and erratic winds.
Fire Behavior: Fire activity was minimal due to rainfall and higher humidity. It is still smoldering and creeping with some spotting and single-tree torching in the dead and down lodgepole and spruce.
