Un caccia F/A-18 Super Hornet ha colpito le petroliere con munizioni di precisione, prendendo di mira i fumaioli delle imbarcazioni al fine di renderle inutilizzabili. Secondo quanto riferito dal Centcom le due navi, entrambe prive di carico, sarebbero state fermate "prima che entrassero in un porto iraniano nel Golfo dell'Oman, in violazione del blocco navale statunitense in corso".

(Adnkronos) - Tensions are at a fever pitch in the Strait of Hormuz. A fighter jet opened fire on two Iranian-flagged tankers heading towards ports in the Islamic Republic. The U.S. Central Command (Centcom) has released the video documenting the operation. An F/A-18 Super Hornet jet struck the tankers with precision munitions, targeting their funnels to render them unusable. According to Centcom, the two ships, both unladen, were stopped “before they entered an Iranian port in the Gulf of Oman, in violation of the U.S. naval blockade currently in effect.”
