my town has held a lantern festival for the last 4 years, in February. It’s based on an old tradition of chasing away the dark so the light can return (seems to work!)

It gets better every year!

The parade runs the length of town (one mile), then culminates in an open area where people eat, drink, and warm up by bonfires.
