Meet the cecropia moth (Hyalophora cecropia)! One of North America’s largest moths, this critter’s wingspan can reach an impressive 7 in (17.8 cm). Once mature, this species does not eat: Instead, it spends its time searching for a mate. Females emit pheromones to attract males, and male moths can detect this scent from more than 1 mi (1.6 km) away.
