As a member of the queer kink community I have been a Catherine Opie fan from the beginning. Since the minute I saw her Self Portrait/Cutting (which is not her first work but certainly many would consider it her most notorious of the time), I was hooked.

Opies' take on queerness and the performance of gender has always mesmerised me. At first glance many of her portraits are simple, yet they are always questioning the status quo. 😍
