These guys are a little slighter than I typically look for in representative art for Lashunta males, but I couldn't resist the costuming!

Although #Lashunta society doesn't discriminate on romantic preference, it is required to happen under the Damaya Matriarchy. Thus men focusing on this kind of relationship risk losing a social-support vector. Such couples typically dwell within the household of a mother or sister, according them a place in society and advocating for them.

If a couple of men can't find that kind of matronage, they risk being even further marginalized. There is, however, another option.

Hunters and explorers bring back tales of ~Disadama~ - Men's Hunting Camps - hiding out in the wilderness. Since the ratio of outlaws in Lashunta Society are disproportionately male (due to the female right to banish for any offense), some men have built their own settlements deep within the rainforest. There they have developed their own communities, enacted their own laws, and live as they see fit.

Many outlaws drift through these hunting camps after their banishment, although the hetero-inclined often leave for relationships fitting their preferences (possibly seeking a pardon or matronage that will disregard their offense). Yet for Lashunta males seeking to love and live as they see fit, the men-only places become a dream come true.

There is, however, a risk. The cities' matriarchies may likely be aware of established hunting camps but prefer to ignore them. If, however, a city perceives such an outlaw settlement as a threat - for any reason, whether economic, legal, or even an offense to pride - they may take action. A company of Shotalashu cavalry with Korasha auxiliaries will soon come invading along the treepaths, at which point tragedy may ensue.

What if your culture fully supported they way you love? What if your love was fully supported and blessed the way ~yuryei~ - wifelove - and ~yudae~ - manly love - is on Castrovel among the lashunta?

Even with my interest in verisimilitude, I still find myself drawn toward idealization in the inspiration I find. Is that a natural bias in fantasy? Are we naturally attracted to things that are more beautiful, more perfect than reality?

This work's title is _Elysian Fields_, which is certainly as ideal as can be imagined. Yet maybe it's appropriate to look for such, since maybe my lashunta and castrovel are in some ways an idealization: a species and world whose members are fully empowered to love whom they will.

My homebrew Lashunta society is neither perfect nor ideal & has a long way to go before it reaches the enlightened advances of Starfinder. ~O'Dini-Heili!~ - Celebrating Pride!

My homebrew Lashunta society is neither perfect nor ideal & has a long way to go before it reaches the enlightened advances of #Starfinder. Yet at the least, they really don't care whom you love.

Here's to learning, growing, and evolving, with the hope that we never really stop.

Can a piece of a larger work tell a different story? This is a detail from _A Thorn Amidst the Roses_ (1887). Yet whereas the the larger work has the two women's faces focused on the operation, with this detail in isolation without the faces, the focus shifts to the hands touching.

This could still be two humans, or it could be to lashunta females. Yet maybe the species doesn't matter. Either way, the two could be sharing their first intimate contact toward something deeper.
