Analogous to the Texas AG seeking data on transgender people, the Indian state of Maharashtra has constituted a committee to collect details of couples in interfaith and inter-caste marriages.

The ruling Hindu-supremacist setup in India (and Maharashtra) not only abhors marriages across religions, but also marriages across castes within Hinduism.
