To be totally realistic, talking military installations as targets that puts civilian population at risk is so passé. In a ‘terrorist; context, maybe, but in a China & pals Vs the rest contest? Nope.

The concept of #TotalWar was born during the second world war with #CarpetBombing of highly populated areas. Sure, Arms factories where the purported legitimate military targets but, let’s face it that was just propaganda. Remember Hamburg, Antwerp, and many other cities, fuel-air and incendiary bombs. Yes military targets… right…

Another world war will start with hits on targeted cities in order to kill the will of a nation to resist an invasion. Whether it is through conventional explosives or nuclear devices, who knows. Maybe both.

So forget about strictly miliitary target, by the end of the first strike, there will be no will left to fight. Ukraine is a but an isolated example of what modern warfare is like. In another world war, nuclear weapons are very likley to be used. We’re all f*$% if this happens regardless where any military installations deemed ‘targets’ are located. IMHO

If warfare morphs fully into cyber warfare, then it’s a different story. But I fear that will only be one theather of war, not the whole war itself.

Gaad, this is so depressing.

In Sum: Nothing can be done to stop any nation from arming itself (either for defensive or offensive purposes) because that’s human nature. We should concentrate on risk minimisation, reform the UN and fully enforce (requires a military posture) international laws. It will still be a tyranny of the Majority, but short of miracles, that’s the best we can hope for on the global stage. Not stop wars, but contain and end them.
