Carolyn Hax: Parent of trans teen is exhausted by constant protective alert

An educator and parent of a trans teen feels burned out by attacks on two fronts, but also unwilling to disengage.

Comics aggregator: Damon Young removed, Carolyn Hax & Miss Manners fixed

I’ve removed the Damon Young column in the Washington Post from the comics aggregator because he hasn’t written anything there for two years so I’m pretty sure he’s no longer being published in the Post.

Over the past day or so the Post did something to break the other columns from there that the aggregator supports, Carolyn Hax and Miss Manners, and I’ve fixed those.

I suspect, but I am […]

Carolyn Hax: Snobby guests skewer aunt for wedding attire

Daily Herald
My wife and I love reading #WashingtonPost advice columnist #CarolynHax. Her column is the biggest reason we were paying for a Post subscription.
("were" because Taylor Lorenz platforming Chaya Raichik was the last straw.)
I read columns online, but my wife prefers paper, so I have a script that downloads and prints them for her daily.
Unfortunately, the Post has finally made their #paywall so automation-resistant that I can no longer figure out how to script printing articles. *sigh*
#WaPo
I will withhold final judgment until there's more data, but it seems likely that the #WashingtonPost hiring an editor in chief who spent many years working for Rupert Murdoch media outlets means I won't be renewing my #WaPo digital subscription when it expires.
I love reading #CarolynHax, but not that much.
*sigh*

Carolyn Hax live chat for July 28 fixed in comics aggregator

If you read Carolyn Hax through the comics aggregator (and you really should, she's amazing!), you may have noticed that there was no live chat listed on July 28, or on July 29 if you read the one-day-delayed version of her feed (which you probably should, because it's faster and more reliable).

@jeridansky The deciding factor for our family is that my wife has a decidedly different philosophy than I do about what a newspaper should and shouldn't print on its op-ed page. It's not that she disagrees with me about which columns are awful, she just thinks they're newsworthy and therefore publishable.
She's my equal partner in deciding what we give money to. That we both want to keep reading #CarolynHax is the tie-breaking vote which has prompted us to keep our subscription so far. 😉 2/2
