The choir is conducted by a #Ukrainian lady, the pianist and several young participants are also from #Ukraine, and the rest of the choir learned #Shchedryk in #Ukrainian.

Beautiful!

World-renowned #Dutch conductor and violinist #AndrΓ©_Rieu, together with #Ukrainian-born singer #Anna_Reker, performed the legendary #Ukrainian Christmas carol #Shchedryk (#Carol_of_the_Bells).

It was performed live during the #Johann_Strauss Orchestra concert in #Maastricht, #Netherlands.

As #Rieu admitted, he always thought that #Carol_of_the_Bells was an American Christmas song.

πŸ’” This is what #Pokrovsk, the city of "#Shchedrik," looks like now

It is believed that #Nikolai_Leontovich wrote his legendary melody in #Pokrovsk .

In just a couple of weeks, the whole world will be immersed in the magic of #Christmas, and "#Carol_of_the_Bells" will be playing everywhere. Meanwhile, the city where the song was born is being turned into ruins by #Russian terrorists, who continue to attack day and night.
