Yes theres no ethical consumption under capitalism but that doesn't mean a vegan who gets the train to work that might kill insects is the same as someone who pays for multiple animals to be killed explicitly for their own sensory pleasure

We cant address the more embedded human supremacist systems if we're not even allowed to critique carnism without being called a hypocrite

The intent is very important, unless we attack the cancer at the root which is speciesism then carnism and human supremacy will continue to crop up in new forms forever.

Non-human victims aren't comforted by the fact someone abstains from killing their cousins once a week

Your right to swing an axe ends where someone elses neck begins.

Personal choices don't have victims abuse does.

It's not your personal choice to force a pig into a gas chamber or a chicken into an electrocution bath (yes thats how the vast majority are killed)

I don't care if you respect me, I want you to respect the victim by no longer paying for their needless torture and death.

And its not the same as not being aware of something on some level everyone knows killing other animals is bad but the justification is usually socially ingrained supremacist attitudes, which is exactly what the nazis did, hating who nazi ideology told you to was common sense to the point that people dont think about it and get angry at people who even lightly question it
