There is a Foucault’s pendulum in the Herzberg building (Physics) at Carleton University. Years ago I heard a story about the open space before the pendulum was installed and an industrial tub of silly putty. Apparently it bounced back about half way.
What were they doing with an industrial tub or silly putty? Apparently they were doing early MRI type work and the putty was the same or close to the same density as human flesh.

I've always wondered if the story was true and if so, if anyone else remembers the story.
