Security Advisory for Cargo (CVE-2026-5222)

Rust Security Response Team가 Cargo의 sparse index 프로토콜에서 URL 정규화 오류로 인해 CVE-2026-5222 취약점을 발표했다. 이 취약점은 특정 조건 하에서 공격자가 다른 사용자의 인증 토큰을 탈취할 수 있으나, 공격 조건이 매우 제한적이어서 심각도는 낮다. Rust 1.96 버전에서 해당 문제를 수정할 예정이며, 이전 버전 사용자에게는 별도 완화책이 없다.

Three points on Rust not having namespaces, 10 years after the first proper "domains as namespaces" proposal:

1. The egomaniacal posturing of the people in charge is absolutely bonkers, as well as the damage they have caused.

2. It's a failure of Rust's governance structure that these people have not been removed from any decision-making processes.

3. Shipping even the worst namespacing proposal back then would have been better than 10 years of inaction.
