Since the Black Magic HDMI capture card seems to be the only card that reliably captures audio/video I grabbed an HDMI splitter. Works great, hasn't caught fire...two thumbs up so far.

Just been looking into my #streaming setup as of late, particularly the hardware I use. It appears the #goxlr, finally made accessible through a third-party tool, may need to be replaced at some point as the first-party devs who were working on it all got canned (again) in February, so when it dies, that's it, although that may not be for quite some time given its track record so far.
My #avermedia #captureCard works, for the moment, although there's always been a weird blurriness when capturing ps5 that I haven't found the cause for yet. #twitch #hardware

… "HDMI capture #UVC" (#USBVideoCapture) https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?q=hdmi%20capture%20uvc&sts=ma seems better search term than "external HDMI capture USB"

Needed to reread one of the reviews (of Roland UVC-01 USB Video Capture, UVC-01, 1080p60, US$ 218) to parse "AI" in the context as "audio input" https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1633695-REG/roland_uvc_01_usb_video_capture.html/reviews

Ooh, VGA input!

... Veronica did say in her video that Elgato HDMI USB capture card has been least finicky, more reliable. In comments on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lYvQ6tscUU people also had mentioned Elgato device eventually crapping out.

So I personally do not have much hope of long usable life of Kondo Blue KB-HDMI-USBCC & Mimo Monitors HCP-1080 devices.

Does the usable life span improve if I drop Linux compatibility & make do with MS Windows?

@[email protected] Have a Protectli 6-port machine for the purpose, that I have not gotten around to put in use due to lack of a small monitor (space constraints; have not found one, certainly not when a 1[5-7]” would cost about the same|more as 2[2-4]” one).

Looking for advice for a #4k #USB #captureCard for #livestreaming ... it doesn't have to be low-latency, I'm just going to duplicate my "real" computer screen to a secondary computer for better frame rate while livestreaming, but the hdmi capture cards I do have seem to only go up to 1920 (even though they were advertised as 4k (: )
Links NOT through Amazon HIGHLY encouraged.
