#capoeira last night was about 2 hours of debriefing and unpacking the batizado we just had, and about 1 hour of foam rolling and stretching. Restoration of both mental and physical selves.

I didn't wear my new cord, first time is going to be Thursday.

People keep saying "Congratulations INSTRUCTOR Urso" to me and it still feels weird. It makes sense to promote me because I've been teaching classes, and it means the people who just got my previous belt aren't the same level as me, but I'm sort-of jokingly saying to people "I guess NOW I have to learn to play capoeira."

I felt very welcomed by the mestres after the cord reveal, like "Welcome to the club, New Guy." Not that they weren't nice before, but there's a noticeable shift.

#capoeira batizado summary: Our annual batizado finished! Thursday and Friday were workshops, Saturday was the batizado, Sunday was a blessing and roda at the new space.

I met a lot of new people, re-met and got better acquainted with other people, felt like I was hugging people frequently. Got direct feedback from Mestra to not wear shoes and focus on fixing my feet instead, as well as maintaining a solid base and balance so I can react faster. Also I got a surprise instructor cord.

Current status: post-batizado

Back home from the event and the after party, had to take a minute to process the implications of the new cord. I've already been asked if I'm coming to an event and whether they should make a promotional poster for me. 🙃

I'm like noooo this is just my pajama dance fight aerobic workout, I'm not ready to be a capoeira person with a title.

#capoeira today: I got my instructor cord. I was not informed of this in advance. That is all.

#capoeira update: It's batizado weekend! Already 2 days of workshops have passed and we're on the third day of actual batizado. So far I've shook a lot of hands, given and received a lot of kicks, and ran around stressing about food.

I'm not getting a belt because I'm supposed to stay at my level for a couple of years, so it feels very freeing to get to run around and support everyone else.

Also the floor of our batizado venue is very slippery.

Mes handstands du début du mois n'étaient pas un coup de chance.
J'y arrive toujours! Y'a plus qu'à décoller du mur maintenant.

Samedi, on a eu un long cours de berimbau/bateria. Super motivant.
Du coup dimanche, on a fait .... La même chose.
On va finir par devenir doué•e•s.
