It's amazing to me that a city that is in a once forested area can be so bare of trees. And developers are the problem...

The city’s 2021 tree canopy study also highlighted the unequal distribution of trees and the effects of that pattern, with people living in deforested neighborhoods like South Park and Beacon Hill experiencing shorter life spans and poorer health. While Seattle’s new Tree Canopy Equity and Resilience Plan aims to plant new trees in underserved areas, saplings on public land cannot compensate for the loss of hundreds of large, shade-providing residential trees during increasingly hot summers.
