What role does race play in your work?

Since discovering my main character was a Black woman, my research has taken me to reading #BernardineEvaristo, #ReniEddoLodge and #CandiceCartyWilliams, learning the term #misogynoir and set me on a search for a Black British female #sensitivityreader (paid, of course).
