I did not know that our government provides housing to the leader of the official opposition party. So... PP has a massive pension and lives in government housing... And he ran on cutting government spending and services. This is fucking hilarious 🤣

Poilievre faces uncertain future after losing his own seat and failing to depose the Liberals | CBC News

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre delivered mixed results in Monday's election — boosting his party's vote share to a generational high with breakthroughs among new voting blocs, while at the same time failing to unseat Mark Carney and the Liberals from government and losing his own seat.

FOR A CHANGE.

Will he become more empathetic to others now that he's been laid off and has to "freeload" for a living?

That was some election night, and definitely mixed feelings about it. Considering what things looked like in December this is a huge win. But it came in large part at the expense of the NDP, which is a loss. The CPC got their largest percentage of popular vote since 1988, which is disturbing. But PP lost his own seat and we no longer have to see him use the House of Commons as a personal stage for his braying and sloganeering.

Canada has a lot of work to do.

*womp, womp* Everything Trump touches turns to shit. I guess PP had to learn that the hard way. #CanadianElection2025

Carney wins Canadian election, while Conservative leader loses his seat in Parliament

The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation projects that populist Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre will lose his seat in Parliament. That's as Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney’s Liberal Party has won the federal election. It caps a stunning turnaround in fortunes fueled by U.S. President Donald Trump’s annexation threats and trade war. The loss of his seat would cap a swift decline in fortunes for the firebrand Poilievre. A few months ago he appeared to be a shoo-in to become Canada’s next prime minister and shepherd the Conservatives back into power for the first time in a decade. Then U.S. President Donald Trump took office.
