Dear MPs, don’t give my tax $ to American billionaires

Tell your MP how you feel about Ottawa’s plan to subsidize this American-owned project with your tax dollars.

There is no underestimating how vulnerable our dependency on U.S.-based payment systems has made us. We need to emancipate ourselves these systems ASAP, as Europe is doing, or our financial system could be in serious jeopardy. Maybe we could do this by signing onto Europe's EPI system or maybe by finally investing in our own tech startups? Write to your local MP demanding action be taken NOW to uphold our financial and national security.

US Road Trips by Canadians Fall to Lowest Level in Four Years | Nojoud Al Mallees

When President Donald Trump first launched a trade war against Canada, many Canadians chose to respond by scrapping travel plans to the US. One year later, the travel boycott continues. On this day, and every day, let's remember that the fight for women's rights is the fight for human rights.

From Charlie Angus:

During the 1941 strike, the provincial premier sent in hundreds of heavily armed police to break the strike. The police issued an ominous threat — any miner who dared protest or appear on the street would be beaten and arrested.

They thought they could intimidate the people.

But mining families are a tough and tight-knit breed.

The day after the threat was made, in the bitter cold, hundreds of women and children of Kirkland Lake formed a long row and marched through the centre of town.

They were defiant. This was their community, and they were standing up for their husbands, brothers and sons. The power structure was so shocked that they didn’t dare oppose them.
