Occupy DC
This contemplative exchange is situated within the vital context of the Occupy DC movement, which emerged in 2011 as a localized manifestation of the global response to economic disparity and corporate influence. Dr. Alfredo Sfeir-Younis and Myra Jackson engage participants on how concerted public action successfully elevated concepts like income inequity into mainstream consciousness. The dialogue posits that the fundamental corrective action for establishing true societal balance must begin with campaign finance reform, ultimately framing the purpose of the 99% as a transcendental principle of global unity and shared human experience.

We need campaign fundraising legislation in the USA NOW. It may be (probably is) too late. Campaigning should never have become an industry. Fuck Schmidt and the rest of them. Hooray for them that they were able to climb that economic ladder for being good- no great- at mudslinging.#CampaignFinanceReform
(I am so tired of the trump texts begging for donations)
Billionaire hedge fund founder, climate change warrior and major Democratic donor Tom Steyer is running for governor. Fossil fuel and migrant detention facility investments will likely draw attacks from his fellow Democrats.
I don't want to get my hopes up but I'll be watching this, and supporting it if I can.
SCOTUS has ruled that corporations have a "first amdendment right" to essentially unlimited political contributions. Corporations, however, exist only with the permission of individual states. This is a plan to limit or eliminate corporate political contributions, including through superPACs, by limiting the legal powers of corporations at the state level (i.e., prohibiting or limiting political contributions).

π‘ Can voting be fair if most people only hear from the wealthiest candidates?
I just opened a discussion on Reddit about campaign visibility and structural reform.
Would love your thoughts β https://www.reddit.com/r/electionreform/comments/1l2a83w/can_voting_be_fair_if_only_wealthy_candidates_can/
