A #Kzinti ensign appears as a recurring supporting character in #LowerDecks & a young Caitian girl becomes a hero in #StarTrekProdigy
#vfx costs were prohibitive for a #Caitian live-action guest star in #Picard, according to Jonathan Frakes who directed the S1 episode in question.
This underscores one of the true value-adds of #animation in #StarTrek and #Scifi more generally - it can bring authors’ imagining of truly alien species to screen.
A quick commission! A character for a Star Trek SIM: the Caitian science officer Ensign Luxa Lorana.
It was really fun to make a humanoid character with feline features and whenever there's Star Trek I'm happy :D
(I have a LOT of sketches for this image, so I'm tempted to use them for YCH furry, if there's interest)

I regret that this tool has not yet embraced the #felinoids of the #StarTrek franchise. #Caitian and #Kzinti representation is my thing.
Besides, no new avatars for me until #Paramount makes an announcement to #SaveStarTrekProdigy!
This #Caturday, please don’t forget how #StarTrekProdigy has been making the #Caitian sentient #felinoid species accessible to delight a new generation of young fans.
Please keep amplifying & advocating to #SaveStarTrekProdigy #CatsOfMastodon

In this case, the #Vedala appeared in ‘The Jihad’ many episodes ahead of the Kzinti’s appearance in ‘The Slaver Weapon.’
It seems we can attribute the hunched Kzinti to their lemur-like Vedala animated predecessors out-of-universe.
In-universe, my headcanon is that the #Kzinti (like their #Caitian cousins) were always upright but affected a hunched posture to emulate the Vedala.
