The #ChooseYourOwnAdventure book of choice for my weekly #StorytimeWithSteve at work is 1989's "Return of the Ninja" by Jay Leibold, book #92 in the original series. (More about my Storytime project: https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/crisis-community-choose-your-own-adventure-year-storytime-tanner/).

While I have an original, this is one of the few that's been updated and reprinted by Chooseco as part of the new generation of #CYOAs, rereleased in 2019 (yes, you can buy a copy now: https://www.cyoa.com/products/return-of-the-ninja!)

Crisis, Community, & Choose Your Own Adventure: A Year of Storytime with Steve

Editor's Note 1/1/23: This retrospective was written in March 2021 to mark the 1-year anniversary of Storytime with Steve. Since that time, we've continued to read together, adventuring through a total of 240 books by the end of 2022.

@SJohnRoss I imagine this was a restriction from the licensee, as the #StarWars #CYOAs were the same way.
@DougWar40k LOL! The problem with the #StarWars #CYOAs was that you were never the characters. Rather, you were a "friend of Luke" etc. What fun is that? Probably a limitation driven by the licensing.

@funranium due to the way mastodon works, you need # for searches.

Would be my crack at it. I can delete if that's annoying.

Secondly—this one is very specific—I assume people with dating experience are less likely to like Real-Life-Pictures in #CYOA s and people playing 'new life pickers' are more likely to enjoy traditional art.

Thirdly, I assume people create or want to create the kinds of #CYOAs which they also like to play.
