Very interesting pre-print on C-section delivery and oxytocin and vasopressin.
Why voles?
"The use of voles as subjects here also offers several advantages.
First, voles tolerate room temperature housing well [36], without the metabolic [37,38], autonomic [12,39] and
neuroendocrine [40] consequences faced by mice housed at room temperature. Voles are undomesticated,
which means their OXT and AVP systems have not undergone artificial selection as in mice [41]. "

Hashtag C-Section Awareness Month
Is "C-section Awareness Month" (CAM) truly about women's empowerment in birth or is it a rebranding of birth shaming tactics? In this provocative critique, the author argues that because such awareness campaigns substitute nuance for slogans, they often reduce the complexity of medical decision-making to crude considerations. By tracing the roots of CAM back to its original cesarean prevention goal, this post exposes how, despite claims to the opposite, natural birth ideology permeates this campaign and continues to position cesarean births as morally inferior to its idealized birth. It's a call to recognize the dangers of CAM and reject what little representation it offers women in favor of reclaiming women's authority over birth and its discourse.https://birthethics.com/2026/04/30/hashtag-c-section-awareness-month/

💡 The first successful C-section on a living woman happened in 1500.
Jacob Nufer, a pig castrator, performed the surgery on his own wife after days of failed labor.
With only a razor, he saved both mother and child. She later gave birth naturally to 5 more children.
From desperation came a breakthrough that has since saved millions of lives.
Imagine this: you're in the delivery room, heart full of anticipation, maybe a little bit of those excited nerves. Then, the mood shifts. #babysheartrate #Csection #fetaldistress #labor #nonreassuringfetalstatus #oxygensupply #pregnancy
I remember a young woman, Sarah, so excited for her first baby. She’d done all the classes, her bag was packed for weeks. Labor started, and everything seemed to be on track. #birthplan #Csection #failuretoprogress #LaborComplications #Oxytocin #prolongedlabor #slowlabor
