#KnowledgeBit: #Lonar #Crater or Lonar Lake is a meteorite impact crater in India's Deccan Plateau. The crater is about 500 ft deep, 1.8 km in diameter.

The impact created a shock wave that melted and shattered the basalt, producing a glassy material called #Maskelynite.

A 2019 study found that the minerals in the lake soil are very similar to the minerals found in Moon rocks brought back during the Apollo Program.
