A small primary school in Brisbane's west has done what many others have been unable to achieve during COVID-19's Omicron wave in Queensland: remain outbreak-free.
They studied airflow patterns with a smoke machine, used an aranet4 to monitor CO2, and purchased air purifiers.

@melissasweetdr Thank you for sharing this article. It raises a number of important points. Covid weariness. Long Covid. Waning immunity. The myth of seasonal covid.
The latter is of concern: it is rampaging through Aus atm, in summer, and ppl are getting repeatedly sick, at a time when we know that EACH infection leaves lasting damage. Its clearly NOT a winter thing. Ppl are just indoors more in winter.
IS anyone even testing anymore? Are there ppl out there with symptoms just not testing and going to work & shopping with "just a cold", when it's not?
We dont have to mandate masks, but we sure can "strongly recommend" their use. Govt could regularly put the message into media. More ppl would follow advice IF it was publicised.
Id also like to know where to find up to date covid stats.
Are we counting anymore?
Do we know the infection rate of vaxed v unvaxed ppl anymore?

Covid19Au Victoria death stats past 3 months, new variants discussion
"In the past three months, there have been 667 COVID-related deaths in Victoria. Of those deaths, 44.1 per cent were unvaccinated and 50.2 per cent had not received their third COVID vaccine dose. "
Dr Michael Lydeamore, infectious diseases modeller at Monash University, predicted that in the next year management of COVID-19 would become more like influenza, where annual or biannual vaccination programs were rolled out.
“It will be a bit rocky while we get everyone on the right schedule because we know there are people who got their last dose eight or six months and aren’t eligible for another dose yet,” he said.
But while millions of people across the world are reporting new infections of coronavirus each day, the prospect of another variant lingered.
“There is always a danger that a new variant, which is more severe, emerges somewhere,” Lydeamore said. “This could happen anywhere in the world.”
Just a quick reminder that if you are eligible for a second #COVID19 booster (i.e. fourth shot/ dose) and in Australia, check https://covid-vaccine.healthdirect.gov.au/booking/ for your nearest location. There are many chemists in central Syd, for e.g., that have signs welcoming walk-ins for boosters. You don't need to make a booking.
I think I might have Covid again…
Symptoms started while at work, I’m 2 hours into my shift 😅
Symptoms very similar to onset of last time I had Covid. Sore throat, sneezing, and brain fog.
Hit very suddenly. Lucky I’m still masked up and in an isolated office for majority of the day!
Will probably go home early if I get all my work done before I’m meant to finish!
In 1996, Peter Doherty and Rolf Zinkernagel won a Nobel for virus research, but their 25-year anniversary was thwarted by COVID-19. They spoke to the ABC about how we prepare for the next pandemic, and how the infamous "Dan Murphy opening hours" tweet changed Professor Doherty's drinking habits.
