As a psychologist, you can be 100% compliant with the confidentiality code of conduct, while having 100% terrible data security practices.
That "private" email exchange with a client on your Gmail business address? Can be read by Google. Same for attachments either in-mail or on your Google Drive.
Those "private" non-encrypted messages on Facebook Messenger? Not so private.
Even Whatsapp, which is encrypted, collects metadata. There's a chance that, say, metadata from messages/calls from your clients can be used to profile them.
And pitch something to them.
Maybe harmless for perfumes. Maybe not that harmless for alcohol, cigarettes, clothes, gambling. Especially for people who struggle with these.
Privacy and confidentiality are not only confined to your mouth. They are embedded in the very way in which we interact with the internet. Which is exactly why we must do better โ๏ธ
