My favorite medium is old veneer cabinet doors.

In a "last minute I need a gift" frenzy I made engravings.

The silhouette/front of the Oseberg ship, istr it's from a Canadian museum poster?

A petrogplyph (helleristning) bronzeage, I think it mabe from bornholm..

Finally got around to mounting my relayboard for the cnc. I spend quite some time in FreeCAD to make the threaded clamps.

Unfortunately the reason for getting into the cabinet was that the modbus/rs485 connection to the vfd was dead. I ordered a new usb-rs485 thing after rewiring and testing.

ChonkNC build progress: did some more fabrication. Planning to bolt the gantry legs to the base, but undecided how to attach the gantry to the legs; I'd like to be able to shim it for leveling (which suggests "not welding") but there's no obvious place to put bolts up there.

Part one, the underbelly, of a vacuum table is done. Just bought a used 1.5KW vacuum pump. So next up making a design for the top, plan is 3 zones. Total area is 122x73 cm.

Finally, an aluminium part made by #CNCMachining. This wasn't quite the part I wanted to make, and it did end up a little marred due to a mistake in my program, but I'm still happy with it.

If you're curious of its size, it's 40mm in diameter and 6mm thick.

Finally found some time to cut some aluminium! This was partly an experiment in adaptive clearing paths, partly a test to see what I could do with an _un_-bent X leadscrew.

Lessons learned:

* Workhold in the _centre_ of the vise. I had two workholding failures where the part came out before this successful one.

Wodden boxes I made for xmas presents.

Made with my #cncwoodoruter using #linuxcnc cad/cam was with vectric vcarve.

It was quite a challenge doing two sided machining. I ended up making a fixture, to machine the outside.

Topsides were a 2.5D relief motive. Bottom was engraved with "made by pedersen, xmas 2025, for y"

Walnut wood finished with furniture wax made from beeswax and linseed oil.

@drahflow it is a good question I can see that someone is using #CNCMACHINING but that feels weird. The sexual usage of cnc, "consenting, non consent" is a more pc word for rape fantasies. The content disturbing and do not want to be associated with it nor make it "stuerent" https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/stueren

For my first #CNCMachining job, I decided to be on-brand. This was made using the SVG tracing functionality in UGS (so, not even proper CAM), and I ended up doing an inside-line, followed by an on-line, pass.

I plan to cut it down a bit on the edges, then display it somewhere. That way, I can see where I came from as I learn more.

@jamie - you wanted cool thing, you get (kinda) cool thing.

So, I got a new CNC, which I am slowly learning to use. It's been fairly good so far, apart from the position of the estop button, which was less than great.

However, I have an #FDM printer, and #FreeCAD, so I fixed this problem. Figured I'd publish it for everyone to use and modify.
