Late Breaking Works | SportsHCI 2026

This year at #chi2026 we had a Job Fair with Amazing Exhibitors, Interactive Demos, Breakthrough Posters, and Live Catalan Rumba Music!
Congrats to Jon Froehlich, Jacki O'Neill, & Volker Wulf as the 2026 recipents of the #SIGCHI Societal Impact Awards for 2026 at #chi2026!
This year @sigchi welcomed 11 new CHI Academy members at #chi2026! Congrats to them all for driving our community forward!
Tamar Makin & Dani Clode gave us an amazing closing keynote on With, Not For: Rethinking the Body (and Brain?) in Augmented Interaction at #chi2026! Across neuroscience and design, they argue for a shift from imitating the biological body to working with it—questioning assumptions about embodiment and extending the human form and the primacy of the five-finger hand.
The #SIGCHI Lifetime Service Awards went to Cliff Lampe & Helena M. Mentis at #CHI2026! Many thanks to them for their dedication, endeavors, and mountains of work they do for our community.
Last month Pep Gatell gave the opening keynote at #chi2026 which included a great discussion on art and technology and people (along with some interactive surprises!).
The most interesting question some folks asked me at #CHI2026 was: "did you not do a video with all the lab's paper this year?" Indeed, given the chairing work, I wasn't able too, but the enthusiasm of these folks helped me do it now 🙏! Here you go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4VVtHGljuXI
