United States (US) Route 1 runs along the east coast of the United States (roughly along the Atlantic Ocean) between Florida and Maine.
You appear to be referring to California (State) Route 1 which weaves along the Pacific Coast. It links Los Angeles and San Fransisco and hosts the landmarks you mentioned.
