The 1st pilot is now in the books. A week full of robots, discussions and practice with the 3 main UGV platforms of the #CARMA project. The most difficult task for both the technical and the first-responder teams is to envision how these prototypes of technologies and procedures can become the new standard for future emergency response and SAR operations.
Next stop: Paris, in just a few days.

This week the CARMA EC Project team is in Madrid, conducting the Pilot 1 trials with the three main UGVs: A high-mobility, a highly-adaptive and a heavy-duty platform, plus the C2 operations C&C management system and communications. This is the first time all the individual technologies combine and work together in the field, including the customized networking solution for them.

Last night the doors to the C closed in our faces but the A #express came before I could get to the North end of the platform and this morning the E was literally waiting for me (held at the station) at 50th Street. #NYC #today

Shaping the next-gen collaborative human-robot SAR missions...
Our colleagues at INESC-ID, Lisbon, hosted the co-design workshop for #CARMA project on Dec 12-13. We were very happy to meet their "humanoid" friends and we had plenty of time to discuss how human First Responders and UGV team members will be able to work as our peers in the hotzone.
