I went through some recent C64 demos and this one got stuck. Awesome tune and it plays really nice on the lighting of the C64U.

And sorry for the screen being out of focus. Its only the first couple of seconds :D

I'm currently trying to find out, why the Star Wars C64 demo created by Censor Design freezes on the C64 Ultimate. With a stock DOS 1541 drive the demo freezes after swapping to and playing disk 2 for a while. If you use a 1571 drive instead, the demo runs just fine.
I think I could track it down to the fact, that this demo uses 40-Track D64 images.
I would really like to know, if this is a "bug" in the C64U firmware or if this is some other kind of limitation or configuration issue.
Perhaps someone out there has a bit more deep dive information to push me in the right direction?

On the bench today it was my c64u for a small visit. Added the 3 utility buttons and changed the powerled for a 3 colour led.

Klar kann man alle Demos heutzutage auf Youtube schauen. Sie aber auf der Original-Hardware zu starten und zu sehen, wozu eine 1 Mhz Maschine in der Lage ist, ist noch einmal eine ganz andere Nummer!

Wenn man dann auch noch die original SIDs (6581 und 8580) drin hat, klingt das Ganze wie aus einer anderen Welt und das „verwaschene“ Bild auf einem 14“ Röhren-TV ist die Kirsche auf der Sahne.

Wahnsinn, wenn man heute sieht, wozu der C64 rein technisch in der Lage ist/war.
