Recently turned from a museum into a mosque, they don't allow tourists to visit the ground floor anymore. Still impressive to see this ancient piece of architecture.

The interplay of light and shadow in the corridors of the Peace Church in Potsdam deeply moves me. Sunbeams streaming through narrow windows create bright patterns on the floor, while dark corners radiate tranquility. These contrasts bring the old stones to life, creating a unique, almost magical atmosphere.

@hntdove I'm just wondering about a #steampunk angle too. The Victorians idolized #byzantinearchitecture and there's a big gap in the #romepunk space IMNSHO for a world where #byzantium became a modern world (steam) power.

Chora Church found in the Fatih district in Istanbul and is know as Kariye Museum. The 14th century Byzantine fresco colours and images are crisp and the mosaics for the most part intact. Across from the Chora a Syrian couple who’d owned a publishing co in Damascus had opened a bookstore and coffee shop as a hub for their fellow Syrian refugees. The support they were giving to the Syrian community was immense
