42. Somewhere...

🧠 The turquoise and gold building is really eye catching and originally I intended it to be more of a side-by-side with the grey Hillhead Library building. I decided to crop and focus more on the Nico building with intriguing stuff going on at the end of the alleyway between the two.

⭐ I like how the colours of the building look and really stand out.

➡️ I was lucky to get the road as empty as it was but it's a bit annoying that that car is where it is!

For those who are interested, I'll be doing my last market of the year this Saturday (13th Dec) at the Byres Road Market in Hillhead Library. I'll have copies of my book Glasgow Uncovered for sale as well as mounted prints of some of my photos, Glasgow Christmas cards and the last of my 2026 calendars. It's on between 11am and 4pm.

The GCT on the cartouche at the bottom of this metal box at the top end of Byres Road indicates it's one of the few remaining parts of Glasgow's once extensive tram network. It would have provided an electrical connection to the overhead wires that powered them. The smaller box on top contained a telephone to allow the driver or the conductor to check in with the tram depot.

I love this sculpture on a wall at the junction of Byres Road and University Avenue in West End of Glasgow. Created in 1993 by Michelle de Bruin and Callum Sinclair, this is the first time I've seen it lit up in a very long time. Known locally as the Sun and Moon Clock, I've always known it (possibly incorrectly) as the Eclipse as it appears to depict a solar eclipse, with the central part representing totality.

That's me all set up for today's Byres Road Market in Hillhead Library. It's on between 11am and 4pm, and I've got my usual Glasgow-themed books, Christmas cards, calendars, prints and the last of my tenement tile coasters. If you can make it along, I'll look forward to seeing you there.

The display of William Murray clay pipes is just there for interest and isn't for sale (although I can potentially make these up on request).
