The appointment of Ole Book was arguably Lars Ricken’s most significant move. The presidential committee is set to discuss his future this autumn. The upcoming transfer window will be a real test for Ricken.
As president, and therefore also a member of the presidential committee, Hans-Joachim Watzke bears primary responsibility for appointing the management team. His relationship with Carsten Cramer and his opinion of him are excellent.
It is considered a formality that Cramer will be offered a new contract. Lars Ricken, on the other hand, is under closer scrutiny, although the current plan is to continue working with him.
His aim is to find players that the club has somewhat lost sight of in recent years – game-changers who will draw fans to the stadium and who also have the potential to increase their market value.
From the board’s perspective, Ole Book’s first few weeks have been encouraging. He is in daily contact with the manager and has already met with the scouts on several occasions to outline his ideas.
Book often arrives at the office as early as 7 am to closely monitor players of interest to Borussia Dortmund himself. To this end, he watches the respective clubs’ matches in full and does not wish to rely solely on the opinions of his staff.
Serhou Guirassy suffered a concussion during the match against Hoffenheim. In the 84th minute, he was tackled by Ozan Kabak during a defensive challenge and went down. Kabak was not shown a card, but Guirassy was diagnosed with a concussion after the match.
The player has not been able to train so far and could miss this weekend’s match against Freiburg.
Borussia Dortmund are showing strong interest in 18-year-old centre-back Karim Coulibaly of Werder Bremen. Should Borussia Dortmund make a serious move, they would be in a strong position, as Coulibaly would prefer to stay in the Bundesliga.
