Common Buckeye #butterflies on Gregg’s Mistflower in the front garden. Since it appears that the seasons-change in SE Texas has been cancelled, with daily temps more summer-like than anything approximating autumn, I went ahead and bought some end-of-season-on-sale native perennial butterfly attractor plants and got them in the ground. Success so far, these are the first buckeyes I’ve seen in our garden.

1st step: Just finishing the irrigation.
Next step: Wait until weeds sprout.
Since it has been a dry fall, sprinklers will have to do the job to get the plot ready before the rainy season.
Step III. after 2 to 3 week lightly till sprouted weeds into the top 1 to 2 inches of soil.
Phase IV: plant plugs of native milkweed in clumps of 3 to 5 plants. and broadcast wildflower seed mix.
