I discovered that over the course of my full-ride BSBA and half of a full-ride MBA, my institution and the Florida lottery system has paid out approximately $50,000 in scholarships and grants to my account for tuition, housing, and other educational expenses.

So, the state of Florida has paid for 6 years of my professional education for $10,000 less than the cost of one year of undergraduate tuition at an Ivy League school.

I'm almost done my masters so that means I will soon be able to publicly post all of the parts to my thesis on my website. Just because I'm thinking about going private industry for a few years, that doesn't mean my work on food waste and retail grocery supply chain efficiency is going to stop.

I suppose the pro/con of being a gay business academic currently studying LGBTQ owned businesses is that my work keeps becoming more and more relevant to the concerns of business owners, but I also am becoming less and less valuable to PhD programs.
