welp, we got 35mm over the predicted 90mm since 9am yesterday in the #BunyaMountains with it still peeing down and 2.5 ours to go before the daily total is reached.

Hope you are all safe and dry and not planning to bloody well drive in this weather!

(We are expecting electricians from Kingaroy this morning*. I really, really hope they cancel but I suspect they will attempt the journey because tradies are like that

*They're coming up the mountain for several jobs, not just us )

Right now, we have three Leeuwin's honeyeaters, two red-browed finches, at least five yellow robins, and three or so fairy wrens in the yard in front of me, and I can hear sulphur crested cockatoos close by ❤️

Birds in the veranda this morning as the clouds envelope the mountains.

Guess who forgot to pack their tripod and ultra-wide lens?

So this is two 35mm shots with the camera balanced on a stool, held up on an angle with my phone (on its side) and the phone stand for the higher angle, then stitched in Lightroom.

Not great by any means, but who can resist a bit of milky way when you're in a dark area?

We had some hopeful visitors this afternoon. They were looking for free food, but we didn't have anything appropriate (bugs, skinks, small snakes).

A Juvenile #AustralianMagpie.
A #LaughingKookaburra (who was not laughing)
and a #PiedCurrawong

Sunset over the Bunya Pines.

Shot from the veranda as the last light disappeared.

It's mostly overcast today, so the Red-necked Wallabies are out grazing during the day.

The first one was just across the road from where we are staying, the other three further down the road.

UPDATE: I've since been told the two bottom wallabies are Black-Striped Wallabies. (they have a black stripe on their back and the red fur extends to the arms)

We are at Bottle Tree Bluff.

Presumably named ironically for the total lack of bottle trees.

Met this handsome fellow on our walk this afternoon.

It's a Lace Monitor (colloquially also known as a Goanna).
