Looks like genAI is about to take another great leap forward in enshittification.

Google seems to be about to graduate from locking in consumers with massively subsidised or free tokens, to making its platform shittier for consumers to attract businesses.

I wonder how long it will be before any home renovation question on Gemini turns up a bunch of products from Bunnings?

Our * #Bunnings in #CBR have a big cage outside the garden section entrance. It is filled with free pots that people bring back and contribute, you can take what you need. Usually not the biggest, ie for small trees, but plenty of other sizes. All they expect is that pots are washed before returning.

Plus Bunnings are rolling out facial recognition around the country. Who knows what AI they're using for that and who they're sharing data with.

I don't want my hardware store to be part of the surveillance society. Luckily, Mitre 10 is in the same area.
