Even now it can be hard to find some of the clips online. There's a climactic moment when Bulworth is being interviewed on national TV. Because of swear words (I'm guessing), it's hard to find this on youtube, with its weird puritan filters.

Bulworth: Rich people have always stayed on top By dividing white people from colored people, but white people got more in common with colored people Than they do with rich people. We just got to eliminate them.

Interviewer: Eliminate?

Bulworth: Eliminate.

Interviewer: Who, rich people?

Bulworth: White people.

TV watcher at home: Damn!

Bulworth: Black people, too. Brown people, yellow people. Get rid of 'em all. All we need is a voluntary... free-spirited, open-ended program... of procreative racial deconstruction. Everybody just gotta keep fuckin' everybody... 'til we're all the same color.

Tv watcher: DAMN!

In the early 90s we had media like Dave and The West Wing, inspiring hope in the USA through, essentially, lying to us about how politics worked. Then in 1998 Warren Beatty gave us Bulworth, which made audiences feel... bad. It's not a perfect movie, but IMO it's a really good one. Its portrayal of the ugly underbelly of American #politics that rings as true now as it did then.

It did not do well at the box office, and I suspect the bizarre pairing of Warren Beatty (he wrote the thing) with Halle Berry was not the real issue--after all, Americans had no problem with geriatrics like Harrison Ford and Sean Connery hooking up with 20somethings in other films. No, I think it was this:

Conservatives hated it because it lionized #liberal values and showed the nastiness of corruption in Washington.

Liberals hated it because it showed us these things in the Democratic party.

The movie is about #Democrats. They're the bad guys. They're the slimebags. It's not a conservative film--the Democrat leaders are not bad because they're liberal; they're bad because they pretend to be #liberal while shoving #neoconservatism down America's throat.

Go watch this movie. Don't worry, it's very watchable (overlooking the weird grossness of Beatty with Halle Berry, who can do no wrong). It's got style, zing, good pacing, and tons of humor. It has multiple instances of Warren Beatty, sleep-deprived and stoned on street weed, trying to rap and doing exactly as horribly as you might imagine (I can forgive him the Halle Berry thing for being grown-up enough to lampoon his own ridiculous middle-aged white-guy-ness).
