Roma, 2 mar. (Adnkronos) - “Viviamo un'epoca di grandissime accelerazioni, in cui trend globali, digitalizzazione e tensioni geopolitiche si innestano in uno scenario competitivo e normativo caratterizzato da continue transizioni”. Lo ha dichiarato Gianluca Bufo, ceo e direttore generale del Gruppo Iren, a margine della conferenza “Umanizzare il trilemma dell'energia” in Senato, organizzata da Oliver Wyman e Wec Italia. “In questo contesto – ha spiegato – programmare, pianificare e dibattere i giusti investimenti per il Paese è fondamentale per guidare queste trasformazioni”
Iren, ha sottolineato Bufo, è impegnata “su tutti i fronti della transizione energetica: dallo sviluppo delle rinnovabili alla flessibilità necessaria per accompagnare la decarbonizzazione delle infrastrutture”. Un percorso che deve riguardare non solo la produzione ma anche le reti e i sistemi di accumulo, in un quadro in cui “la domanda a valle è in continua evoluzione”. Un capitolo centrale è quello dei data center: “Stimiamo che anche in Italia possa verificarsi quanto già accaduto negli Stati Uniti, con un forte aumento della domanda di energia elettrica”.
Da qui la necessità di investimenti nelle reti e nella decarbonizzazione, insieme all'impiego delle tecnologie più avanzate come l'intelligenza artificiale, “che garantiscono ulteriore flessibilità e slancio”. Di fronte ai breakthrough tecnologici, ha osservato, “gli scenari possono divaricarsi tra fortissime spinte immediate e sviluppi più graduali nel tempo: vedremo quale sarà il percorso, ma il nostro ruolo lo faremo”.

Rome, March 2 (Adnkronos) - “We are living through an era of great accelerations, in which global trends, digitalization and geopolitical tensions intertwine in a competitive and regulatory scenario characterized by continuous transitions.” This was stated by Gianluca Bufo, CEO and Managing Director of the Iren Group, on the sidelines of the “Humanize the Energy Trilemma” conference in the Senate, organized by Oliver Wyman and Wec Italia. “In this context – he explained – programming, planning and debating the right investments for the country is fundamental to guide these transformations.”
Iren, Bufo emphasized, is committed “on all fronts of the energy transition: from the development of renewables to the flexibility necessary to accompany the decarbonization of infrastructure.” A path that must concern not only production but also networks and storage systems, in a framework where “demand downstream is constantly evolving.” A central chapter is that of data centers: “We estimate that in Italy too, as has already happened in the United States, there will be a strong increase in electricity demand.”
From here comes the need for investments in networks and decarbonization, together with the use of the most advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, “which guarantee further flexibility and momentum.” Facing technological breakthroughs, he observed, “scenarios can diverge between very strong immediate pushes and more gradual developments over time: we will see which path it will be, but our role will be.”
