As it happened, I already owned a variation of the same pose on one of my precious Land of the Giants bubble-gum cards.

Apparently, it's Trading Cards for Adults Day. No, I don’t know who comes up with these things either.

The first cards I remember collecting appeared in shops in 1966. These were The Riddler's Riddle, featuring scenes from the Batman TV series and movie. A delightful set of 38 cards, each with—as the name suggests—a riddle to solve on the back.

One of my earliest memories is of opening a packet and discovering the cards inside were in Dutch.

I'm constantly posting anniversaries and birthdays, but some are a little more special to me than others. Case in point...

Happy 80th Birthday to Heather Young, alias 'Spindrift' stewardess Betty Hamilton from Land of the Giants, one of my earliest crushes.

Star Trek bubblegum card no. 27.

One day in 1969, I came out of primary school and crossed the road to the shop opposite, intending to buy myself a treat. To my delight, I found a box of Star Trek bubblegum cards sitting on the counter. I was so excited that I didn't even make it home - I stopped off at the local play park to open my treasure. The very first card out of the packet featured Captain Kirk and his android double from 'What Are Little Girls Made Of?'
