Bin hochgradig verstört, dass ich erst jetzt mit 53 etwas über »Das Sanatorium zur Todesanzeige« (Sanatorium pod klepsydrą, 1973) von #WojciechHas, nach dem Roman »Das Sanatorium zur Sanduhr« (1936; Dt. 2011) von #BrunoSchulz erfahre.

Ein Meisterwerk von dem, was ich #DieAnderePhantastik nenne und sich nicht easy-peasy unter Fantasy oder SF oder Horror einordnen lässt.

Mes joyeusetés pour #vendredilecture avec "Les boutiques de cannelle" par #BrunoSchulz . Ces fragments autobiographiques complètent le "sanatorium au croque-mort", plus axés sur la folie du père. mais j'ai été frappé par leur style plus abstrait et court, ainsi que des petites touches de merveilleux (à petite dose par rapport à la charge decliniste et moisie habituelle) et un delire astronomique qui détonne face à la Matière corrompue.
Je comprends mieux ici le contexte de ses obsessions, de l'ere industrielle et des babioles qui viennent nuire aux commerces des patriarches juifs au comptoir d'ébène, à l'artisanat, aux objets précieux et uniques...

I have finally started to read Bruno Schulz and, Jesus Christ, what a jaw-dropping writer of poetic imagination. Jonathan Safran-Foer attempted to claim "authorship" by pulling a NAKED LUNCH with Schulz's work in THE TREE OF CODES. And it makes me hate Foer even more (I already despised him). Foer WISHES he could write as well as this Polish genius. But was it really Foer's work to pilfer?

I am down with a lot of experimental modernist fiction, but Collected Stories of Bruno Schulz is really difficult... I can't read more than a page or two at a time. My brain starts to wobble.
