I tried another unusual whisky on Saturday at Julio's Liquors Whiskey Roadshow. It's a Rye, which isn't unusual - but it is a 7 year old Islay Single Grain Scotch Whisky from Bruichladdich. And *that* is very unique.
I love rye whiskey, prefer it to bourbon, but we don't get a lot of rye from Scotland. There are a few, with RyeLaw being the one I see most often. This is a different take on rye, atypical compared to the average US rye, and I like what they've done. So I picked up a bottle tonight.
I got a bottle of Dramfool’s 21-year-old Port Charlotte and it’s like the nectar of the gods. Smokey and sweet, the way I love ‘em. Can’t even think of the right words to describe it.

It’s whisky night. Cracking open the new Jim McEwan Port Charlotte from Dramfool for the first time. Just the whiff from the bottle as I poured is heavenly.
